Reminding you of HOME…

Our story

Our building has been standing since the late 1920s. Originally operating as a “honky tonk” by Mr. Ed Barefoot. After Sampson County became dry, the building was converted into a one-stop shop, country store by Ed’s son, James Barefoot. Many of our customers today remember stopping in J.S. Barefoot Store back in the 60s, 70s, & 80s. After closing in the mid 1980s, the building remained in Barefoot family. In 2004, James’ daughter, Annette, and husband Donnie Williford, decided to take on a new adventure & transform our Old Country Store into the Old Store Cafe. We have been serving our community ever since, with a few short pauses between the years. Annette & Donnie’s granddaughter, Brecklee Johnson Fleming, took over ownership of Old Store Cafe in 2022, bringing new life to the long running family operation. We have since expanded into specialized Event Catering along side our regular Breakfast & Lunch service.
